Lady Cats drill Salem

SALEM – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats captured a 15-3 win over the Salem Lady Wildcats on a last-minute decision on a quick pickup game Friday night in softball action.

“We were excited to get the season going again after the long layoff due to the wet weather,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “The girls played a great game. I was very pleased with the team’s effort both offensively and defensively.”

The Lady Cats (3-0) will host the Lincoln County softball tournament Monday as West Lincoln, Loyd Star and Enterprise will be involved. BC will have the late game at 7 p.m. and take on the Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets.

Bogue Chitto 15, Salem 3 

The Lady Cats quickly jumped Salem in the first three innings of action as they secured a 10-0 lead before the Lady Wildcats answered in the bottom of the third inning by pushing across three runs.

In the fifth inning, the Lady Cats of Bogue Chitto ended the contest with a five-run explosion and held Salem scoreless in the bottom of the fifth inning to claimed the win.

Sophomore Christian Black was the winning pitcher for BC with 10 strikeouts and six walks.

Rachel Bond suffered the loss for the Lady Wildcats with two strikeouts and two walks.

Mattie Avants, Colby Kirkland and Daley Roberts powered BC’s offense with two singles apiece each. Hitting safely were Terrah Nelson, Alexis Givens, Alana Nettles, Jordan McKinney and Black.

Salem’s offense was directed by Darrien Dykes and Reece Bailey with a single apiece.

In junior varsity action,  Bogue Chitto defeated Salem 9-3. Alexis Givens tossed the win for BC.

Baileigh Jackson powered the Lady Cats with two singles. Zariah Matthews, Cherie Savioe, Reagan Kirkland and Karly Leake hit safely.
