West Lincoln blanks McComb

The West Lincoln Lady Bears climbed back into the win column after blanking the McComb Lady Tigers 7-0 Friday night in softball action.

“We played a lot better defensively,” said West Lincoln coach Andrew Redd. “We still need to improve on our hitting, but I was pleased to get the win.”

West Lincoln (2-1) will be in action Monday as they take on the Loyd Star Lady Hornets in the Lincoln County softball tournament at Bogue Chitto. Game time is set to start at 5 p.m.

West Lincoln 7, McComb 0 

The Lady Bears came out strong and quickly set the tone of the game with a 4-0 jolt in the first inning.

West Lincoln continued to increase their lead by pushing one run in the second, third and fourth innings to secure a 7-0 lead and hold on for the win.

Micah Redd was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bears with four strikeouts and two walks. Malori Hall (4K, 1BB) also saw some action in relief.

Paige Brock suffered the loss for the Lady Tigers with seven strikeouts and six walks.

Micah Redd was the leader at the plate for West Lincoln with a double and two singles. Senior Destiny Allen provided a triple and a single. Layton Sills and Alli Mullins hit safely.

Ariel Johnson and Brock paced the Lady Tigers’ offense with a single each.

In junior varsity action,  West Lincoln clobbered McComb 8-1. Peyton White (5K, 3BB) and McKenzie Pyles (3K, 3BB) paired up to collect the win for the Lady Bears.

Kadie Maxwell, Makennah Redd and Lexis Leggett paced the Lady Bears at the plate with a single each.
