A Jayess man died in a single-vehicle accident Saturday in Lawrence County, according to state troopers.

SFC. B.R. “Rusty” Boyd, public affairs officer for highway patrol Troop M, said David Jefferson, 54, of 39 Robey Jefferson Road, Jayess, died in the single-vehicle collision on Mississippi Highway 27 South just south of Mississippi Highway 44. Troopers were called to the accident at 1:14 p.m. Saturday.

Jefferson was driving a 1994 Chevrolet truck hauling propane and traveling north on Highway 27, Boyd said. Jefferson appears to have lost control of the vehicle and it rolled several times, partially ejecting him, the trooper said.
