MONTICELLO — The Lawrence County Lady Cougars secured second place in Region 7-4A softball action Monday night with a 11-0 win over the Columbia Lady Wildcats.

“This was a important game for us to get the win,” said LCHS assistant coach Marc Howard. “It ensures us the No. 2 seed in district and helped us to finish the regular season at home on a high note before going into the playoffs. Defensively, we played well behind one pitcher who pitched another great game for us.

“She is getting into a good groove at the right time and I am glad,” continued Howard. “Our hitting is starting to come around, which helps us to be more consistent on scoring runs to win games.”
