One lane of Interstate 55 was closed for several hours for clean-up after a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 55 just south of the 33-mile marker in Lincoln County early Wednesday morning.

A 2007 Sterling 18-wheeler hauling non-hazardous goods, driven by Alicia D. Green, 30, of 311 East Commercial St., Bunkie, Louisiana, was south bound on I-55 around 3:16 a.m. Wednesday and ran off the east side of the roadway into the median and collided with some trees, said SFC. B.R. “Rusty” Boyd, public affairs officer for Highway Patrol Troop M.

Green was wearing an occupant restraint at the time of the collision and was not injured. Boyd said Green said she fell asleep. The truck’s owner is Central Transport LLC out of Warren, Michigan.
