Bogue Chitto crushes Amite Co.

LIBERTY – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats climbed back into the win column Thursday night after clobbering the Amite County Lady Trojans 12-1 in slowpitch softball action.
The Lady Cats (3-1) will return to the field Tuesday as they host their Lincoln County rival, the West Lincoln Lady Bears. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6 p.m.

The Lady Cats quickly took care of business Thursday night as they overpowered the Lady Trojans early to grab a 11-0 lead in two innings of action before adding another run in the fourth inning to secure a 12-0 lead.
Amite County scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth inning, but failed to overcome BC’s strong defense in the end as the Lady Cats captured the victory in five innings of work.
Brooke Myers was the winning pitcher for BC with one strikeout and no walks.
Terrah Nelson and Colby Kirkland provided the offensive power to lead the Lady Cats with a triple and a single each. Christian Black continued the onslaught with a double and a single. Alana Nettles and Reagan Kirkland contributed a pair of singles. Mallory Allen and Baileigh Jackson hit safely.
In JV action, Bogue Chitto thumped Amite County 12-3.
Stevie Montgomery tossed the victory for the Lady Cats with three strikeouts and two walks.
Lineka Newson sparked BC’s offense at the plate with a home run and a single. Codi Leggett, T’Asia Black and Montgomery fueled the flames with two singles apiece. Hitting safely were Karly Leake, Destiny Wallace, Payton Barron and Jackson.
