Funeral Services for John Lee Moak of Summit are 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery with Military Honors. The Rev. Kern Wickware and the Rev. Benjamin Everett will officiate. Pallbearers will be Justin Moak, Paul Smith, Mike Cutrer, Jamie Clark, Joey Wells and Toby Wells. Honorary pallbearer will be Bobby Brown. Jones Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, from 9 a.m. until time of service at Moak’s Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Moak, 90, died Aug. 23, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Lincoln County to John Albert Moak and Odessa Lee Hux Moak.

He was a retired United States Army Master Sergeant serving over 24 years. He served during World War II in the Mississippi 155th Infantry. He also served during the Korean War. After retirement, Mr. Moak worked as a security guard for numerous places including NASA. He was a former Justice of the Peace for Lincoln County and a longtime member of Moak’s Creek Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Kathern M. Crews, Julia Mae Moak, Mary M. Smith; and four brothers, Fred Moak Sr., William Moak, Everett Lamar Moak and Franklin Britt Moak.

Survivors are his wife of 67 years, Frances Walters Moak of Summit; his children, Barbara M. Westbrook and husband, Bernard, of McComb, Micheal Moak and his wife, Linda, of Hull, Georgia, Debara Carel Scherer and her husband, Fred, of Greenwood, Maine and James A. Moak and his wife, Linda, of Brookhaven; two sisters, Rhoda Westbrook and her husband, William and Geraldine Boyd and her husband, Oliver of Summit; four grandchildren, Kristopher Justin Moak, Stephanie D. Everett, Cassandra D. Chapa and Travis Morgan Moak; four great-grandchildren, Sam Everett, John Isaac Everett, Selah Jordan Everett and Ella Grace Franks.
