The Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars are currently on a four-game losing skid as they a drop a tough 9-1 decision to the ACCS Lady Rebels in MAIS fastpitch softball district action
In other late results, BA suffered three straight heartbreaking defeats in Parklane’s Softball tournament. BA fell to Parklane JV 5-4, Central Private 6-5 and East Rankin 7-6.
The Lady Cougars (8-11, 1-1) will be looking to climb back into the win column tonight as they travel to Liberty to take on the Amite School Center Lady Rebels. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:30 p.m.
Parklane (JV) 5, BA 4
Anna Grace Covington (2K, 1BB) and Alex Rae Smith (1K, 2BB) absorbed the setback on the mound for the Lady Cougars.
Kailyn Jordan and Alex Rae Smith paced BA at the plate with a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Anna Smith, Olivia Thornton, Olivia Lofton and Morgan Walker.
Central Priv. 6, BA 5
Covington took the lost for the Lady Cougars with two strikeouts and one walk. Alex Rae Smith (0K, 3BB) started for BA and Olivia Lofton (0K, 3BB) saw action in relief.
Covington was the top hitter for BA with a double. Anna Smith, Jordan, Walker and Lofton hit safely.
East Rankin 7, BA 6
Alex Rae Smith absorbed the lost for BA with one strikeout and five walks.
Maura Dunaway was powered the Lady Cougars offense with a double and a single. Olivia Thornton, Alex Rae Smith, Amanda Rushing, Walker and Lofton hit a single each.
ACCS 9, BA 1
Alex Rae Smith suffered the setback for the Lady Cougars on the mound with one strikeout and two walks.
Lofton, Dunaway and Walkers recorded the only hits for Brookhaven Academy with a single apiece.
