Funeral Services for James Alton Moore of Brookhaven are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Strong Hope Baptist Church in Wesson with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the church.

Mr. Moore, 91, died Oct. 1, 2014, at Countrybrook Living Center. He was born on Aug. 7, 1923, in the Strong Hope Community in Copiah County to James Estus and Ethel Foster Moore.

Mr. Moore was a lifelong member of Strong Hope Baptist Church. He retired from Hartley Gove Sons after working there for 34 years. He was also the owner and operator of a cattle farm. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Stanley Liles Moore; seven sisters; and one brother.

Survivors are his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Liles Moore; one son, James R. Moore and his wife, Pamela; his grandson, James P. Moore and wife, Mary; his two great-granddaughters, Marlee and Macie Moore, all of Wesson.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for anyone who wishes to do so to make a donation to the Strong Hope Baptist Church Cemetery Association, of which Mr. Moore served for many years.
