Funeral Services for Carol Gibson Chapman of Summit are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at Jones Family Funeral Services with burial in Hollywood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lamar Chapman, Thomas Chapman, Hank Chapman, Thomas Chapman Jr., ‘Tre’ Chapman and Colby Higgins; honorary pallbearers will be Braxton Chapman, Devin Chapman, Junior Chapman, Jerry Chapman, Ricky Lee and Jason Lee. The Rev. Doug Kimble, the Rev. Kevin Dixon and the Rev. Bruce McKenzie will officiate. Jones Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Jones Family Funeral Services and will continue on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, from 9 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Chapman, 66, died Oct. 22, 2014, at University of Mississippi Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born on June 2, 1948, in Yokohama, Japan to Farest W. Gibson Sr. and Myrtle Sanders Gibson Hancock.

She worked for Fernwood Stockyard for ten years. She owned and operated Blue Hawk Pet Grooming for over 30 years. She loved riding horses, camping and coon hunting. She loved her boys and grandkids with all her heart. She was everybody’s MeMe.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jerry L. Chapman Sr.; her stepfather, Dewey Vernon Hancock; her niece, Kristen Sisco; and her nephew, Robert Smith.

Survivors are her sons, Lamar Chapman and wife, Belinda, of Bogue Chitto, Thomas Chapman Sr. and wife, LaWanda, of Liberty and Hank Chapman and wife, Tanya, of Summit; her grandkids, Tre, Kylie, Thomas Jr., Cheyanne, Devin, Colby Higgins, AW, Dewey, Heather, Braxton Jr. and Jerry; four sisters, Helen Smith, Charlotte “Shug” Phillips, Nita McKenzie and husband, Gerald, Joy Steele and husband, Bob; and companion for 18 years, Joe Hodges; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
