The Loyd Star Hornets and Lady Hornets open their junior high season with a victory over the Green Wave of Natchez Cathedral in Tuesday night action in Natchez.

Loyd Star’s junior high action continues Thursday. The Hornets and Lady Hornets will host Enterprise for four games. Game time starts with the seventh grade girls at 4 p.m., followed by the boys.

The junior high girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7.

Loyd Star 33, Cathedral 21 

Christie Patterson was the top scorer for the Lady Hornets with 10 points. Johnna Norman netted 8 points. Sarah Britt provided 6 points. Andrea Butler scored 5 points. Meagan Poole and Abigail Smith had 2 points apiece.

Baylie Graming powered the Lady Green Wave with 17 points.

Loyd Star 46, Cathedral 19 

The Hornets had two players to score in double figures as Zabien Price led the charge with 12 points. Dane Smith contributed 11 points. Brent Cade netted 8 points. Jett Calcote scored 7 points, Dylan Case had 4 points and Gabe Netterville had 2 points.

Lance Gaude was the leader on the Cathedral’s team with 6 points. Tyrick Lee provided 5 points.
