In their first basketball action since the Christmas break, West Lincoln and Loyd Star split a pair of junior high games Monday night at Jack Case Gymnasium.

West Lincoln’s Lady Bears (10-0) continued their perfect season by cruising to a 53-25 win over Loyd Star. Jana Case led West Lincoln with 22 points, while Megan Gerald added 11 points. Andrea Butler led the Lady Hornets with 11 points.

In a close contest throughout, the Hornets made the plays when it was needed to secure a 36-31 overtime win over West Lincoln. Dane Smith provided the spark for the Hornets with 23 points. Jatavian Lewis led the Bears (6-4) with 14 points.

The 2015 Lincoln County Junior High Basketball Tournament tips off Thursday at Enterprise. Loyd Star’s girls and boys will battle Bogue Chitto at 4:00 and 5:00. West Lincoln’s girls and boys will face Enterprise at 6:00 and 7:00. Championship and consolation games will be played Monday at Enterprise.
