Merle Swilley Furlow

Graveside Services for Anna Merle Swilley Furlow are 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at Stronghope Baptist Church. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Furlow, 90, died Jan. 1, 2015, at Willow Creek Nursing Home in Byram. She was born on Jan. 9, 1924, to Sim and Sophie Swilley.

She was a graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Community College. She and her husband, Clyde H. Furlow, made their home in the Stronghope Community where she was very active. She was active in WMU, Red Hat, DAR and was an avid bridge player. In more recent years, she relocated to Ridgeland and was active at Ridgeland Baptist Church.

Mrs. Merle has touched many lives and those closest to her will always remember her saying, “When you hear this old girl is gone to be with her Lord, this will be one happy girl!”

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Clyde H. Furlow; brother, Harold Swilley; sisters, Elizabeth Swilley Pell and Mary Swilley Rasbach.

Survivors are her niece, Sharon Pell Etheredge; a nephew, John Pell; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Stronghope Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
