King’s Daughters Medical Center welcomes Mark Barron, M.D., to its medical staff. Barron is an orthopaedic surgeon with a specialty in spine care. He is now seeing patients at the KDMC Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic & Spine Clinic, located at 601 Brookman Drive Extension.
“We are delighted to add Dr. Barron to our medical staff,” KDMC CEO Alvin Hoover, FACHE said. “His specialty in spine care and general orthpaedics allows us to offer a collaborative treatment program to our community that also involves neurology, pain management, and physical therapy to treat patients with back and neck pain.”
Barron was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, and received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Following residency, he received extensive training in the treatment of the spine through a fellowship at the University of Missouri School of Medicine.
“I just knew I wanted to come back to Mississippi,” Barron said. “I wanted to be close to my family and live in a place where I can practice both my specialty in spine care and orthopaedic surgery.”
Barron’s interest in the medical field began in high school when he was playing sports and experienced a few injuries.
“I got to see what the sports medicine and ortho guys do firsthand,” he said. “I always knew I wanted to do something to help people.”
He chose his specialty so he could help others get back on their feet again.
Barron will be performing spine and general orthopaedic surgeries at KDMC including hip and knee replacements.
Patients can schedule an appointment today by calling (601) 823-5275. To learn more about Dr. Barron, visit KDMC.org/barron.
