Funeral Services for Oscar Paul Redd of Baker, Louisiana, formerly of Lincoln County, are 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at Mt. Zion Church of Christ with burial in the church cemetery. Brother Ronnie Lofton and Bro. Bryan Christmas will officiate. Baker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Monday, Jan. 19, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Rd. and will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, from 10 a.m. until time of service at Mt. Zion Church of Christ.

Mr. Redd, 71, died Jan. 16, 2015, at Baton Rogue General Hospital.

He was retired from the city of Baton Rogue as Director of the Service Fee Business Office. He was an active member of the Church of Christ on Greenwell Springs Rd., Baton Rogue. Always wearing a smile, Mr. Redd had a heart of gold and was devoted to his family and church. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with family and friends. He was a hard worker with a passion for gardening and living “green”.

“For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” 2 Corinthians 5:1.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Yuba Redd; son, Jason Paul Redd; and brother, R. Ralph Redd Jr.

Survivors are his wife of 48 years, Sue Redd of Baker; his daughter, Kathryn Redd Cooper and husband, Clay Cooper of Baton Rogue; daughter in Christian love, Peggy Crawford Noble and husband, Joey; his three grandchildren in Christian love, Kailyn, Kelsie and Kole Noble; brothers, J.W. Redd and wife, JoAnne, Glen Redd and wife, Beverly; sisters, Lavern Downing and husband, Charles, Rita Vick and husband, David; and his beloved pets, Simba, Hershey and Abby.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be sent to Berean Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1009, Brookhaven, MS 39601-1009.
