DAILY LEADER / JULIA V. PENDLEY / REALITY WORLD – Sydney Smith teaches Brookhaven Academy students about the reality of home expenses at Junior Auxiliary’s 2015 Reality World. Every ninth grade student in Brookhaven and Lincoln County will participate in the program between Tuesday and Thursday. Each student is given a monthly salary based on his or her current grade point average. With a clipboard, checkbook, calculator, pen and salary in hand, the students rotate through seven stations. Each station represents a real world expense represented by businesses from Brookhaven. These businesses represent your typical monthly bills: electric, cell phone, cable, housing, insurance, groceries and vehicle.
