Pennies for patients

Photo Submitted Coordinated by Brookhaven Academy math teacher Dawn Freeman, students at the school brought loose change for a three-week period to see how much they could raise for Pennies for Patients. The students raised the money in honor of their classmate, kindergarten student Magnolia Jones, who is fighting cancer. Jones hit head football coach Blake Purvis in the face with a pie because the students reached the goal of $6,500. Since 2005, BA has raised over $47,000.
