Bobcats devour Natchez Bulldogs

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats devoured the Natchez Bulldogs to claim a 8-1 victory in baseball action Tuesday night at Stanton Long Field.

The Bobcats (4-3) resume action Friday as they prepare to host the Hazlehurst Indians. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest.

BC enter into Tuesday night’s contest with high hopes of continuing their winning streak as they took on the Natchez Bulldogs.

Steven Ginn provided a stellar performance on the mound for the Bobcats as he collected 14 strikeouts and had zero walks. BC committed only two errors in the contest, but manage to get some key hits to score some runs.

Jackson suffered the loss on the mound for Natchez with three strikeouts and 12 walks. As a team the Bulldogs also committed two errors and struggled to get things going on offense.

In the bottom of the first inning, the Bobcats got their bats going early as Nick Parker got on base on a fielders choice. Joey Elliot managed to advance Parker to home on a hit shot to left field to give BC a 1-0 lead.

In the second inning, BC managed to continue their momentum going as their first three batters got on base by walks. Connor Douglas was able to push across another BC run after getting hit by pitch. Cameron Price hit a sacrificial fly out to left field to score two more runs to Bogue Chitto a 4-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, the Bulldogs finally scored their only run of the night when Jackson hit a home run over the fence out in right field.

In the sixth inning, the Bobcats provided another productive inning. Cameron Price collected a base hit out into right field to start the Bobcats off. The next two got the bases loaded with two more walks by the Natchez bulldogs’ pitches. Steven Ginn came up to the plate with the bases loaded and got a base hit out to left field to score Cameron Price and Nick Parker. Brooks Ingles got on base by a walk and Bo Smithers had a sacrificial fly out to center field but he was able to score Joey Elliot.

Cameron Price, Joey Elliot, Steven Ginn and Bo Smithers were the top hitters of the Bobcats with a single each.

In junior varsity action,  the Bobcats was able to defeat the Bulldogs 9-3 .

Tanner Gunther was the winning pitcher for BC with two strikeouts and three walks.

Trey Nettles paced the Bobcats with two singles. Connor Price and D.J. Nunnery ripped a double each. Hitting safely were Trey Crittendon, Brandon McKenzie and Tyler Tillman.
