Funeral Service for Mrs. Grace Allen Smith will be 12 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Macedonia Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Riverwood, and resuming Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church.

Mrs. Smith, 99, of Brookhaven, passed away March 18, 2015 at Golden-Living Center in Brookhaven. She was born Sept. 20, 1915 to Willie “Will” Allen and Myrtle James Allen.  She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

She worked as a seamstress for years. Mrs. Grace opened a child care center in 1980 in Brookhaven where she loved on many babies for years. Later in her life she was a sitter with the elderly and helped take care of them. Then once she entered the nursing home her love for people manifested there to take care of them as well.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Holon Smith; parents; infant son, Jerry Smith; brother, Paul Allen; sister, Jewell Fauver; grandson, Justin Smith; and daughter-in-law, Suzanne Smith.

Survivors are her son, Tommy Joe Smith and wife, Jan; daughter, Barbara Ann Smith Watts and husband, Pete; seven grandchildren; John D. Smith and wife, Kelly, Tracey Edwards and husband, Tim, Tracey Howell and husband, Jay, Jason Watts and wife, Heather, Beth King and husband, Owen, Ellen Pyeatt and husband, Benji; 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
