Lady Panthers clobbers Enterprise

The Brookhaven Lady Panthers climbed back into the win column Monday night, after suffering their first loss of the season Friday, by defeating the Enterprise Lady Jackets 13-2 in a make-up softball contest.
The Lady Panthers (12-1, 2-0) will be in action today as they host the Bogue Chitto Lady Cats at the Ole Brook softball complex. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
The Lady Jackets (4-8, 3-2) will resume action Thursday as they travel to Columbia to face the Eat Marion Lady Eagles for a district test. Junior varsity action starts at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.
Brookhaven 13, Enterprise 2
The Lady Panthers and the Lady Jackets battled in a close contest in the first four innings of action with Ole Brook leading 3-2.
Brookhaven outscored the Lady Jackets with a 10-run explosion in the last four innings of action.
The Lady Jackets scored their only two runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Katherine Shell was the winning pitcher for the Lady Panther with four strikeouts and no walks.
Haley Nations suffered the setback for the Lady Jackets with three strikeouts and three walks. Carlee Nations (4K, 3BB) also pitched in relief.
Shell powered Brookhaven’s offensive attack with a home run and two singles. Julianna Porter provided a double and a single. Hitting safely were Katie Grace Culpepper, Tia Bussey, Fallon Brooks, Haley Speaks and Rileigh Allen.
The Lady Jackets were lead at the plate by Carly Polk, Carlee Nations, Brooke Foster, Haley Nations and Molly Burke.
In JV action, Enterprise defeated Brookhaven 5-2.
