Bogue Chitto rallies past Brookhaven

The Bogue Chitto Bobcats traveled up Highway 51 to take on the Brookhaven Panthers. After a big third inning for the Panthers, the Bobcats were able to fight back in the next few innings to get past the Panthers 9-6 Tuesday night.

The Panthers (4-8, 2-0) continue action today as they travel to Carriere for a big Region 6-5A test as they battle the Pearl River Central Blue Devils. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Bobcats (8-4, 1-1) will resume action Friday as they prepare to play a doubleheader. BC hosts Salem in an early contest as the varsity will play first at 10 a.m. followed by the junior varsity game at 12 p.m.

Bogue Chitto will also host the McComb Tigers in the second half of the doubleheader. Junior varsity action begins at 3 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 5 p.m.

Bogue Chitto 9, Brookhaven 6 

The Panthers and the Bobcats battled in a scoreless contest until the bottom of the third inning, when Brookhaven managed to score three runs to take an early 3-0 lead.

Darrian Wilson was able go get the Panthers going in the third inning when he got a big hit to center field for a stand up double. The Panthers now were at the top of their order, and they were very productive. The Panthers went on to score three runs.

In the fourth inning, the Bobcats would answer the heavy charge of the Panthers with a big scoring inning themselves. Tucker Lambert got the bats going when he hit a stand up triple for the Bobcats. Brooks Ingle would get a stand up double to score Tucker. Bo Smithers would score Brooks when he got a single out to left field. Grant Leake would get a bunt down to get the bases loaded. Cameron Price would be able to score Bo and Grant when he single to left field. The Bobcats answered with a five run inning.

The Panthers scored two runs in the fourth to shorten the gap. Garrett Smith for the Panthers got on base by a walk. Darrian Wilson was able to get another hit to advance Garrett. Brandon Henyard scored both Smith and Wilson.

In the fifth inning, the Bobcats added another run to their lead. The Bobcats had a productive sixth inning to seal their victory.

Nick Parker was the winning pitcher for the Bobcats with two strikeouts and one walk. Steven Ginn pitched the final two innings on the mound to collect the save with five strikeouts and one walk.

Scotty Bateman suffered the setback on the mound for Brookhaven with seven strikeouts and two walks. Tate Walley (3K, 3BB) also saw some action in relief.

Brooks Ingles powered Bogue Chitto’s offensive attack with a triple, a double and a single. Tucker Lambert provided a triple and two singles. Gant Leake contributed a double and a single. Cameron Price had two singles. Steven Ginn ripped a double. Hitting safely were Joey Elliott and Bo Smithers.

Darrian Wilson paced the Panthers at the plate with a double and a single. Blaine Moak contributed two singles. Brandon Henyard, Tate Walley, Connor Smith and Garrett Smith hit safely Connor smith had a single. Garrett Smith had single. Darrian Wilson had a single and a double. Scotty Bateman was the losing pitcher with nine strikeouts and three walks.
