Q: What is happening to the railroad crossing on Chippewa Street?
A: The railroad crossing on Chippewa Street will be closed from Thursday, April 2 to Tuesday, April 7. The crossing, owned by Canadian National, will be undergoing a facelift as the company takes out the section and replaces it.
Brookhaven Public Works Director Steve Morton said that the section of the railroad crossing was in bad shape causing Canadian National to take action. Moreton said closing of such crossing could likely cause a mess with school bus routes but he said he was able to notify the schools and other official agencies in the area of the closing to cut down on traffic.
