North Pike blanks Brookhaven

SUMMIT – The Brookhaven Panthers fell to the North Pike Jaguars 5-0 in Saturday’s baseball action.
The Panthers (6-10, 5-1) will return to action Tuesday for a huge Region 6-5A test as they host the Pearl River Central Blue Devils at Moyer Field. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7 p.m.

The Panthers and the Jaguars fought in a scoreless contest until the third inning when North Pike scored one run.
The Jaguars continued to add runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to secure the win.
Ben Coney was the winning pitcher for the Jaguars with one strikeout and one walk. Levi Wishart (0K, 0BB) helps to collect the save in relief.
Penn Wilson suffered the setback on the mound for the Panthers with five strikeouts and three walks. Tate Walley (0K, 0BB) pitched one inning in relief.
Blaine Moak was the top hitter for Brookhaven at the plate with two singles. Hitting safely were Brandon Henyard, Penn Wilson, Judson Henning, Scotty Bateman and Clint Stephens.
Jacob Gill powered the Jaguars offense with two doubles and two singles. Patrick Roberts provided a double and a single. Matthew Phillips had a double, and Brantley Hughes hit a single.
