Lady Jaguars roar past McComb

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars defeated the McComb Lady Tigers 11-2 Wednesday night in Region 7-4A softball action.

The Lady Jaguars and the Lady Tigers elected to play their division game early, due to rain in the forecast Friday.

The Lady Jags (11-6, 7-0) are schedule to resume action Saturday as they host West Harrison. Junior varsity action begins at 12 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 1:30 p.m.

North Pike 11, McComb 2 

After a close first inning of action, the Lady Jaguars’ bats came alive in the bottom of the second inning as North Pike plated eight runs to increase their lead to 10-1 and added another run in the bottom of the third inning to secure a 11-1 advantage.

The Lady Tigers managed to keep the varsity going in the top of the fourth inning as they push across one run to cut into North Pike’s lead at 11-2, but the contest ended up being call in the fifth inning due to severe thunderstorms in the area.

Madison Bigner was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jaguars with six strikeouts and no walks.

Jordan Fitzgerald powered North Pike’s offense with a double and two singles. Sarah Brock contributed two singles. Hitting safely were Janiah Talbert, Madison Bates, Baylee Bryant and Jami Spears.
