Bobcats sweep Pelahatchie

BOGUE CHITTO – The Bogue Chitto Bobcats captured a huge division sweep Friday night as they blanked the Pelahatchie Chiefs 10-0 to clinch second place in Region 7-1A baseball action at Stan Long Field.
The Bobcats (12-6, 3-3) will resume action Tuesday night as they host the West Lincoln Bears for senior night. Junior varsity action begins at 4:30 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:30 p.m.
Bogue Chitto 10, Pelahatchie 0
The Bogue Chitto Bobcats came out and quickly took care of business Friday night as they clobbered the Chiefs in the first three innings of action to secure a 10-0 lead.
An RBI double by Bo Smithers, a single by Rudy Brumfield and a three-run home run by Nick Parker in the second inning fueled the Bobcats attack in a five-run inning.
The Bobcats added five more runs in the bottom of the third inning to lead 10-0. Parker racked up four RBIs on two hits on the night for BC.
Steven Ginn tossed the win for the Bobcats as he handcuff Pelahatchie’s lineup. He racked up 12 strikeouts, while giving up just three hits and no walks in a five-inning shutout.
Parker paced the Bobcats at the plate with a home run and a single. Tucker Lambert provided two singles. Smithers contributed a double. Hitting safely were Cameron Price, Joey Elliott, Steven Ginn, Brooks Ingle, Rudy Brumfield and Brandon McKenzie.
