Lady Jags beat West Harrison, Purvis

SUMMIT – The North Pike Lady Jaguars capture two wins in softball action Saturday and Monday.

In Saturday contest, the Lady Jags edge West Harrison 6-5 and in Monday’s game, North Pike knocked off the Purvis Lady Tornadoes 9-5.

The Lady Jaguars, coached by Sonya Wallace, wrapped up the regular season with a 13-6 record and won the Region 7-4A crown finishing undefeated at 8-0. North Pike will begin their playoff run Monday as they wait on the winner of Region 5 No. 2 versus Region 8 No. 3.

North Pike 6, West Harrison 5 

North Pike and West Harrison battled in close contest in the first two innings of action as West Harrison secure a 5-4 lead.

The Lady Jags managed to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to win the contest on a time limit.

Madison Bigner was the winning pitcher for the Lady Jags with two strikeouts and no walks. Katelin O’Brien (1K, 0BB) collects the save.

Jordan Fitzgerald powered North Pike’s offense with a home run and a double. Sarah Brock contributed three singles. Madison Bigner provided a double. Hitting safely were Madison Bates and Jami Spears.

North Pike 9, Purvis 5 

The Lady Jags managed to take over the contest against Purvis in the fourth and fifth innings as they score three runs in each inning to secure a 8-3 lead.

In the Top of the seventh inning, North Pike added another run to increase the lead to 9-3, but the Lady Tornadoes would answered in the bottom of the seventh inning as they scored two runs in their rally attempt.

Bigner pitched the win for North Pike with seven strikeouts and four walks.

Anna Claire Barrett took the lost for Purvis with two strikeouts and three walks.

Sarah Brock and Janiah Talbert paced the Lady Jags offense with three singles apiece. Jami Spear provided a pair of singles. Hitting safely were Madison Bates, Madison Bigner, Jenna Brock, Allie Grace Terrell and Rickera Martin.

Elizabeth Frey was the top hitter for Purvis with triple and a single. Reilly Bunnell had a double. Morgan Fellows, Kacie McRaney, Kalli McRaney and Marisa Bounds hit a single each.
