Lady Bears surf Lady Green Wave

The West Lincoln Lady Bears finish the regular season with a big 7-2 win over the Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave Tuesday night in softball action at West Lincoln.
The Lady Bears (13-8, 6-2) will be in action Thursday as they visit Madison to take on the Madison-St. Joseph Lady Bruins in the opening round of the Class 2A state playoffs. Game begins at 5 p.m.
West Lincoln will return home to host a doubleheader, if needed, against the Lady Bruins. Game time is at 5 p.m.
West Lincoln 7, Natchez Cathedral 2
The Lady Bears came out and quickly overpowered the Lady Green Wave in the first three innings of action to secure a 6-1 lead.
In the sixth inning, both teams scored one run each as West Lincoln held on for the win.
Malori Hall was the winning pitcher for West Lincoln with four strikeouts and two walks.
Elizabeth Smith suffered the loss for Cathedral with one strikeout and four walks.
Addie Spring provided the spark to lead the Lady Bears at the plate with a triple and a single. Malori Hall fueled the flames with two singles. MaKennah Redd ripped a triple and Layton Sill had a single.
Elizabeth Smith was the leader at the plate for the Lady Green Wave with a double and a single. Hitting safely were Mackenzie Watts and Abby Brown.
In junior varsity action, West Lincoln blanked Cathedral 8-0.
Megan Gerald tossed the victory for West Lincoln with four strikeouts and one walk.
Gerald was also the slugger at the plate for the Lady Bears with a home run and a double. Jana Case provided a two singles. Sara Jane Doty, McKenzie Pyles and Georganna Allen hit safely.
