Funeral Services for Shirley Ann Leggett Harris will be Friday, May 1, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church in Smithdale. A graveside service will follow in the Mt. Gilead Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) on Friday, May 1, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pastor Glenn Kirby will be officiating the services.

Mrs. Harris, 77, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, died on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Lane Memorial Hospital in Zachary, Louisiana. She was born Nov. 19, 1937, in Brookhaven to Van and Clara Johnston Leggett.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church of Baton Rouge. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Preceding her in death were her parents; daughters, Rose Marie Harris Kasatche and Shirley Diane Harris; brothers, Buddy Leggett and Rayford Leggett; son-in-law, Walter “Buster” Thompson; and sister, Junabelle Miller.

Survivors are her sons, Harold Clark Harris and wife, Carolyn, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, John Phillip Harris and wife, Charlotte, of Central, Louisiana, Michael Eugene Harris and wife, Elda, of Denham Springs, William Thomas Harris and wife, Melanie, of Central, and Kevin Lane Harris and wife, Emily, of Cocoa, Florida; daughters, Rena Elizabeth Harris Thompson of Logan, Ohio, and Cynthia Ann Harris Davis and husband, Bill, of Denham Springs; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
