James Cupit

Funeral services for James Cupit are Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Praise Cathedral with burial in New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Franklin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rev. Lee Miley will be officiating the services. Pallbearers are Kevin Davis, Aaron Davis, Chuck Brady, Trey Cupit, Zak Rayborn and Allen Rast. Honorary pallbearers are James E. Cupit Jr., Cody Cupit, Cory Cupit, Charles Ray Cupit, Nicholas Martin and TC Hanks.

Visitation will be at Praise Cathedral on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue on Saturday, May 16, 2015, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m.

Mr. Cupit, 63, of McCall Creek, died Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center in Jackson. He was born Aug. 17, 1951, in Brookhaven to Olen and Marie Williams Cupit.

He was a hardworking man who worked in the oilfield industry for 45 years. He was an avid member of the Homochitto Hunting Club and loved to deer hunt. He loved to raise coon dogs and miscellaneous farm animals. He attended Praise Cathedral Church. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Ray Cupit; sister, Janice Cupit; and grandchild, Allen Martin.

Survivors are his wife of 36 years, Beverly Wright Cupit; sons, James E. Cupit Jr. and wife, Lawanda, of Jayess and Kevin Davis and wife, Dana, of McCall Creek; daughters, Dana Davis Brady and husband, Chuck, of Smithdale, Renee Cupit Hanks and husband, TC, of Summit, Diane Davis of McCall Creek; sisters, Carolyn Smith and husband, Harold, of McCall Creek, Norma Purpura and husband, Kent, of Walker, Louisiana and Martha Seim and husband, JD, of Denham Springs, Louisiana; brother, Robert Cupit and wife, Donna, of Bogue Chitto; 17 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; special cousin, Buddy Lisk; special friends, Leroy and Clydia Cartwright and Thomas Thomas; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
