George Allen ‘Blue Lemon’ Bardwell

Funeral services for George Allen “Blue Lemon” Bardwell are Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (on Highway 583) in Bogue Chitto with burial in the church cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of the arrangements. Bro. Floyd Higginbotham will be officiating the services. Pallbearers are Michael Bardwell Jr., Chris McCaffrey, James McCaffrey, John Sidney Haralson, Jesse Haralson, and Rusty Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Kolby Hart, Brady Hart and Jason Lofton.

Visitation is Saturday, May 30, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive).

Mr. Bardwell, 80, of Bogue Chitto, died after a short battle with cancer on Thursday, May 28, 2015, at his home in the presence of his loving family. He was born May 7, 1935, in Ruth to Henry A. and Fannie Mae Adams Bardwell.

He was a disabled welder. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and loved to have cookouts for his family and friends. He loved caring for his dogs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend to all who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, Floyd and Henry Bardwell; and sister, Annie Lee Bardwell Hodges.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Ruby Charles Bardwell; daughters, Virginia Bardwell Dykes and husband, James, of Brookhaven, Glenda Bardwell McCaffrey and husband, Loyd, of Bogue Chitto, and Linda Bardwell Haralson and husband, Donnie, of Bogue Chitto; son, Michael A. Bardwell Sr. of Bogue Chitto; grandchildren, Rusty Davis and wife, Andrea, Mandy Davis Wright and husband, Chris, Chris McCaffrey and wife, Brandi, James McCaffrey and wife, Becky, John Sidney Haralson and wife, Amber, Jesse Haralson, Michael Bardwell Jr. and wife, Jamie, and Donna Bardwell and fiancé, Mike; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Avrice Bardwell; sister, Joyce Bardwell Lofton; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
