MENDENHALL – The Franklin County 9-year-olds finished third overall in the State Tournament as they won three games and lost two.

Kosciusko won the tournament, while Pascagoula placed second. FC followed with a third place finish.

The young Franklin County team bounced back from a lost to Columbia in pool play to eliminate other teams with an average of 10-plus runs to make it to the semifinals.

Franklin County won their pool despite losing in the tournament semi-finals.

Kosciusko won the rights to play in the 9-year-old World Series.

In the 12-year-old Majors division,  Franklin County finished fifth in the state tournament.

FC’s All-Star team was paced by a solid core from top to bottom. The team beat tourney host Mendenhall to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
