Brookhaven Academy scored their only goal of the game on a perfectly placed corner kick from Harley Smith to Julianna Mills who put the ball in the back of the net for the Lady Cougars.

“I thought our girls battled hard today under tough conditions,” said BA coach Mark LeBlanc. “Central Hinds’ front line is experienced and very talented, it was a tough task to try and keep them from scoring.

“They scored some early goals on some well placed kicks by some very good players,” said LeBlanc. “Their was not much our goalie could do to stop those shots. Our offense had several opportunities in the second half, we just had a hard time finishing. I thought our defense competed extremely well and McKinley Evans had a good game at goalie, she continues to improve with every game.”

With the loss, the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars drop to 1-2 on the season and travel to Laurel on Saturday to play soccer powerhouse Laurel Christian at 11 a.m.
