West Lincoln finishes strong in Loyd Star’s meet

The West Lincoln Bears finished third and fourth in their season cross-country opener at Loyd Star’s 2K meet in Brookhaven Saturday.

In the junior varsity race, the Lady Bears secured first place, while the boys captured third place.

In Bears action, West Lincoln’s senior Jason Watts finished first for the Bears, but placed third overall with a time 11:35. Jordan Montgomery came in second for the Bears with a time of 13:10. Todd Calcote finished with a time of 13:39, Jonathan Mathis at 14:01 and Trevor Murray at 14:03.

In Lady Bears action, Lillianne Rushing finished first for West Lincoln, but was eighth overall in the 2K run with a time of 15:29. Georganna Allen finished behind Rushing with a time of 16:13. Jana Case at 16:46, Lexis Leggett at 16:47 and Megan Gerald at 18:20.

In junior varsity boys 2 mile run, Tyler Castillo finished first for West Lincoln, but secured fourth overall with a time of 14:27. Spencer Maxwell came in second for the Bears and placed eight overall in the race with a time of 16:00. Dakota Spring at 16:40, Barrett Boyd at 17:07 and Justin Pratt at 18:34.

In JV girls 2-mile meet, Ashley Tabor was the top runner for the Lady Bears with a time of 17:25 to win first place overall. Tess Holly came in fourth with a time of 17:46. Sara Wilson placed sixth at 18:56, Anna Johnson was ninth at 19:39 and Gracee Warren at 20:23.
