Funeral services for Elvin Case are Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Gum Grove Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Jacob Gill and Rev. Benji Pyeatt will be officiating the services. Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive) is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation is Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at Brookhaven Funeral Home (Natchez Drive).
Mr. Case, 89, of McCall Creek, died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at McComb Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born May 14, 1926, in Brookhaven to Eugene and Blanche Nettles Case.
He was a retired truck driver and served in World War II in the United States Army. He was a member of Gum Grove Baptist Church. He was one who was always willing to help others and was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Margaret Dixon Case; his brothers, Floyd and Felix Case; his sisters, Abigail Allred and Euvone Case; and his son-in-law, Roger Prentiss.
Survivors are his daughters, Sylvia A. Burnett and her husband, John, of Jackson and Katherine Prentiss of McComb; his grandchildren, Michelle Prentiss of McComb, Kimberly Gill and her husband, Jacob, of Bogalusa, Louisiana, and Kristen Prentiss of McComb; his great-grandson, Henry Gill, of Bogalusa; his sister, Helen Richardson; his brother, Arthur Gene Case; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
