SUMMIT – The Brookhaven Lady Panthers suffered their second loss of the season falling to the North Pike Lady Jaguars 4-3 Thursday night at the North Pike’s softball field.
With the game tied at 3-all in the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Panthers came out and threatened to capture the lead as they put runners on base, but struggled to push a run across the plate at their last bat.
With runners on the bases and with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, North Pike was able to score the winning run with a single up the middle.
The Lady Panthers scored three runs on five hits during the game, while the Lady Jaguars scored four runs on nine hits to win the game.
“We didn’t play to our full potential tonight. North Pike hit the ball well, but we have to hit to compete with them,” said BHS coach Mandy Vinson. “We will have to practice harder to get better.”
