Funeral services for Mary White Massengale are Monday, Sept. 14, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Highland Cemetery in Hattiesburg. Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will follow at the Residence Inn, 116 Grand Dr., Hattiesburg.

Mrs. Massengale, 94, died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at Serein group home in McKinney, Texas. She was born Sept. 19, 1920, in McComb to Louis and Fannie White, who then moved to Hattiesburg.

She married Kent Massengale in December 1940. Mary and Kent will be remembered as former long-time residents of Brookhaven. At one time she worked for the society section of The Daily Leader and did some substitute teaching at Brookhaven High School.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Kent (2005); her parents; a daughter, Patricia Lee; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include daughter, Trudy Ratcliff and spouse, Kenneth, of Van Alstyne, Texas; sons, Dennis of Lindale, Texas and Ken and his spouse, Linda, of Brandon;  five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as sisters, Patsy Johnson and spouse, C.A., of Fort Worth, Texas, Leona Ruhmann of Bedford, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
