Lady Cobras clobber Mendenhall

WESSON- The Wesson Lady Cobras clobbered the Mendenhall Lady Tigers 15-5 in slowpitch softball action Saturday.
The Lady Cobras, coached by Michelle Nunnery, continue action Monday as they visit Florence to take on the Lady Eagles. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Cobras put points on the scoreboard early in the game with two home runs by their first two batters in the lineup, Brooke Jones and Aurianna Vaughn.
Riley Smith was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts and five walks.
Every player for the Lady Cobras earned a hit during the game but the top hitters were Jones with a homerun and three singles; Vaughn with a homerun and double; Riley Smith with two doubles; Nikki Guess and Catherine Wilson with a double and a single each; and Harmoni Ashley with a homerun.
The top fielders for the Lady Cobras were Catherine Wilson with three assists and four outs on third base and Arie Douglas with four outs on second base.
In junior varsity action, the Lady Cobras beat the Lady Tigers 13-1 Saturday afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Shaylin Green had five strikeouts and one walk.
The top hitter was Molly Granger with a double and a single. The top fielder was Bre Westbrook with four outs on first base.
