BC Lady Cats win region crown

STRINGER – The Bogue Chitto Lady Cats won the division crown Tuesday night with a impressive 19-4 win over the Stringer Lady Red Devils in Region 7-1A slowpitch softball action.

“We had a great night,” said BC coach Scott Leggett. “We hit the ball extremely well. Overall, I am very proud of my girls’ efforts both offensively and defensively.

The Lady Cats (13-3, 2-0) will take the rest of the week off before returning to action Saturday as they participate in Brookhaven’s softball tournament.

Bogue Chitto 19, Stringer 4 

The Lady Cats came out on fire in the first inning and clobbered the Lady Red Devils early by scoring 13 runs in route to a five-inning division victory.

Through the rest of the contest, BC outscored Stringer 6-4 to secure the win at 19-4.

Brooke Myers tossed the win for BC with no strikeouts and one walk.

Julie Parker suffered the loss for Stringer with two strikeouts and seven walks.

Terrah Nelson powered the Lady Cats’ offensive attack with a home run and two singles. Alana Nettles added fuel to the flames with a triple and two doubles. Zariah Matthews ripped two triples. Baileigh Jackson and Karly Leake contributed three singles each. Hitting safely were Christian Black, Reagan Kirkland, Cherie Savoie, Brooke Myers and Destiny Wallace.

Kelly Johnson led the Lady Devils with a double and a single. Michaela Gambrell and Ashley Parker contributed two singles each. Kaitlyn Green had a double. Julie Parker and Jamie Wade hit a single each.

In junior varsity action,  BC won 10-4 over Stringer.

Gracie Guynes was the winning pitcher for BC with no strikeouts and four walks.

Kylie Chapman was the offensive leader at the plate for the Lady Cats with two singles. Stevie Montgomery, Destiny Wallace, Lineka Newson, T’Asia Black, Payton Barron, Gracie Guynes, Kayci Beth Wallace and Rainie Welch hit safely.
