Lipsey Peewee: White/Navy upsets Red/White

White/Navy captured their first win of the season with a 12-6 win over previously unbeaten Red/White team in Lipsey Peewee football action Tuesday night. The Red team defeated Navy 6-0 in the first game.

In Thursday action, the White/Red team knocked off the Navy team 6-0 in the opener and the Red team scored a late touchdown with three seconds left to beat the White/Navy team.

Lipsey Peewee Football League action will be off next week to celebrate Brookhaven’s homecoming. They will return to action Tuesday, October 13 at King Field as the Red team battles the White/Red team at 6 p.m. and the Navy team takes on the White/Navy team at 7 p.m.

White/Navy 12, Red/White 6

Kermit Sartin Jr. showed off his speed for his White/Navy team as he sprinted in two 60-yard rushing touchdowns. Sartin lead his team with 145 yards rushing on eight carries.

Offensive linemen – Omarian Diggs, Brody Ezell, Christian Townsend, Elijah Wilcher and Josh Townsend – provided a huge hole for Sartin in the touchdown runs.

Defensively, Omarian Brice and Sartin led the White/Navy team with interception each. Zamarion Diggs recovered a fumble.

For the Red/White team, Garrett Carwyle was the leader on offense with a five-yard rushing touchdown.

Defensively, Jacob Meilstrup caught an interception.

Red 6, Navy 0 

Cortez Hunt powered the Red team offense with a 36-yard rushing touchdown.

Kobe Jacobs paced the Red team defense with a fumble recovery.

For the Navy team, Manny Miller was the defensive leader with an interception and a fumble recovery. Zerian Hudson and Damarea Hamilton recovered a fumble each.

White/Red 6, Navy 0

Jordan punched in a 22-yard rushing touchdown to lead the White/Red team (3-1).

Defensively, Jacob Rushing led the team with six tackles. Noah James had a quarterback sack.

Caleb Harris powered the Navy team’s defense with six tackles. Zerian Hudson contributed five tackles.

Red 14, White/Navy 7

Travion Byrd was the offensive leader for the Red team (3-1) with a 63-yard rushing touchdown. Cortez Hunt punched the winning touchdown with three-seconds left on a five-yard run. Both Byrd and Hunt ran in the extra point.

Working in the trenches for the Red team are – Johnathan Grammer, Will Bowman, Kobe Jacobs, Al Robinson and Finley Neal.

Defensively, Wayne Dickey Jr. led the team with six tackles.

For the White/Navy team, Kermit Sarting hooked up with Denuntay Nelson for a 60-yard touchdown pass. Sartin rushed in the extra point.

Omarion Brice directed the White/Navy defense with an interception.
