Philadelphia knocks out Wesson

PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes knocked the Wesson Lady Cobras out of the second round of the Class 3A State softball playoffs Saturday with an 18-6 win in Game One and 14-4 victory in Game Two.
The Lady Cobras, coached Michelle Nunnery, finished their softball season with a 17-10 record overall, with an 6-0 record in Region 7-3A action.
Philadelphia 18, Wesson 6
Riley Smith suffered the setback on the mound for the Lady Cobras with no strikeouts and four walks.
Brooke Jones directed Wesson’s offense with a home run and a single. Kaitlyn Smith contributed two doubles. Harmoni Ashley provided two singles. Hitting safely were Nikki Guess, Riley Smith and Catherine Smith.
Philadelphia 14, Wesson 4
Smith absorbed the setback for Wesson with no strikeouts and no walks.
Shelbi Maxwell, Arie Doulgas and Harmoni Ashley led the Lady Cobras at the plate with a double each. Katie Westbrook, Smith and Guess provided a single each.
