Funeral services for Luther Dean Hyde were Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church with burial in church cemetery. Dr. Joey Faulk officiated the services. Pallbearers were Luke Thames, Jake Thames, Revis Ballard, Joey Smith, Heath Sistrunk, Ronnie Hedgepeth, Danny Hedgepeth and Glenn Hyde. Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Visitation was Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, from 5 until 9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home and continued at New Hope Baptist Church Monday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Mr. Hyde, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015, at his residence in Monticello. He was born July 16, 1932, in Monticello to Henry Charles and Isabel King Hyde.

Mr. Hyde loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was a retired truck driver with Walmart. He had many friends and was a joy to all who knew him. He was known for his quick wit and kind humor. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he enjoyed his Sunday school class.

Survivors include his children, Vicky Hyde of Monticello, Sherry Hyde Thames and husband, Tony, of Monticello and Cindy Hyde-Smith and husband, Michael, of Brookhaven; grandchildren, Keisha Cox, Brittney Thurman, Luke Thames, Jake Thames and Anna-Michael Smith; two great-grandsons, Devin Thurman and Andrew Thurman; brother, Jerry Hyde of Monticello; and sisters, Betty Lou Ballard of Jayess and Judy Smith of Monticello.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Roy, Duel, Charlie and Billy Hyde; and sisters, Dorothy Carr and Lula Hedgepeth.
