West Lincoln finishes strong in Regionals

CLINTON – The West Lincoln girls and boys cross-country teams finished strong in the MHSAA 2A Regional Cross Country meet at Choctaw Trails Saturday.

The Lady Bears finished in second place overall and the Bears came in third place overall.

The Lady Bears were led by Lillianne Rushing; she finished fifth overall with a time of 25:14. Jana Case came in sixth with a time of 25:32. Other West Lincoln leaders were: Ashley Tabor was ninth (26:10), Georganna Allen 10th (26:17) and Skylar Hall (28:15).

Rushing, Case, Tabor and Allen were selected All-District runners.

The Bears  were directed by Jason Watts with a time of 18:12. Watts finished in first place overall and was selected as an All-District member. Jordan Montgomery followed Watts with a time of 20:58. He finished eight overall and was selected an All-District member. Other runners were Jonathan Mathis, 21:44; Tiler Castillo, 21:53 and Todd Calcote at 22:53.

West Lincoln will compete in the State cross country meet Saturday at Choctaw Trails in Clinton. The girls run begins at 1 p.m., followed by the boys at 1:30.
