Enterprise Lady Jackets bag first win

HATTIESBURG – The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets kicked off the basketball season Tuesday with a 62-37 win over the North Forrest Lady Eagles.
In the boys’ contest, the Eagles defeated the Jackets 105-73.
Enterprise continues action today as it travels to Walthall County to take on the Salem Wildcats for three games starting with the junior varsity game at 5 p.m.
Lady Jackets 62, Lady Eagles 37
The Lady Jackets dominated the Lady Eagles in the opening quarter to secure a 20-5 lead and continued to clobber North Forrest in the second period to take a commanding 36-15 lead into halftime.
In the final two quarters, Enterprise outscored North Forrest 26-22 to secure the win.
“Glad to start the season off with a win,” said Enterprise coach Jill Nations.
Courtney Greer powered the Lady Jackets with 14 points. Michelle Herrington chipped in 12 points and had seven rebounds. Carlee Nations netted nine points and had seven steals. Monisha Pendleton and Jana Nations contributed eight points each. Haley Nations scored four points. Eden Ward had three points. Alissa Barlow and Karlee Burgess scored two points each.
Teresa Brooks was the top scorer for the Lady Eagles with 18 points. Jerrica Firie chipped in with 10 points.
North Forrest 105, Enterprise 73
The Eagles soared past the Jackets in the first quarter to gain a commanding 39-16 lead and never looked back.
The Jackets had three players to score in double figures as Dewayne Pendleton led the charge with 22 points. J.T. Smith chipped in 20 points. Austin Carter provided 12 points. Cade Feltus netted six points. Hunter Bland had five points. Peytin Jergins scored four points and Braxton Wallis had three points.
Armonte Barnes was the top shooter for the Eagles with 17 points. Terrance Kyser chipped in 16 points. Sean Wilson netted 14 points and Ajay Allen scored 10 points.
