Wesson wins opener against Natchez

WESSON – The Wesson Cobras and Lady Cobras kicked off their 2015-16 soccer season Friday night with wins over the Natchez Bulldogs at the Co-Lin Soccer Field.
In the girls’ game, the Lady Cobras blanked the Lady Bulldogs 8-0.
Sophomore forward Kim San powered the Lady Cobras with four goals and one steal. Sophomore forward Amber Brinson provided three goals and three steals. Destiney Day scored one goal and had one steal. Brooke Jones finished with six steals. Nikki Guess, Natalie Bonds, Emily Gregg and Avery Kyle had two steals each. Ella Silvan and Harmoni Ashley both had two saves each as goalies.
In the boys’ contest, Wesson edged Natchez 2-1.
Senior forward Marcus Jones led the Cobras with one goal and five steals. Senior midfielder Dylan Ingle scored one goal and had three steals. Steven Dennis directed the Cobras with eight steals. Travis Smith, Fidel Mellado and Daniel Duke had five steals apiece. Zach Franklin had four saves as a goalie.
