Funeral services for Billie Gene Fitzgerald Deer will be Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with burial at Reeves Cemetery in Summit. The Rev. Billy Joe Deer, Rev. Terry Ballard and Rev. Zack Smith will officiate.

Visitation was Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 from 5 until 8 p.m. and will continue Sunday from 1 p.m. until time of services.

Mrs. Deer, 84, of McComb died Thursday Nov. 26, 2015 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. She was born in Pike County on Sept. 5, 1931 to Lee and Eunice Brewer Fitzgerald.

She was a retired operator for South Central Bell Telephone Company, where she worked for over 35 years. She was a longtime member of Friendship Baptist Church. She loved to cook, can, bake, play cards and quilt.  And her family said her favorite thing to do was to just “go.”

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milton E. Deer Jr.; and one sister Elma Lee Walters.

Survivors are her two sons, Milton E. Deer Jr. and his, wife, Nona, of McComb and Billy Joe Deer and his wife, Rhonda, of Brookhaven; six grandchildren, Kelly Nevels and her husband, Shannon, Joseph Deer and his wife, Tanya, Kevin Deer and his wife, Micki Jo, Jacob Deer and his wife, Nicole, Adrian Hammon and her husband, Keith, Jeff Rainey and his wife, Brandi; ten great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
