Local players receive MAC All-State honors
Thirteen local high school football players were recognized on the 2015 MAC Coaches All-State Team.
In Class 5A, Brookhaven’s Wanya Morris (6-2, 265, sr.) was selected on the Second Team Offense as a guard.
In Class 4A, Lawrence County’s Quitten Brown and T-Tez received honors. Brown (5-9, 190, jr.) was selected on the First Team Offense as the Athlete of the Year. Cole (6-0, 220, sr.) was named on the First Team Defense as a inside linebacker.
In Class 3A, Hazlehurst’s Damarion Wilson (5-11, 205, sr.) was recognized on the First Team Offense as a fullback. Sharntavis Vardaman (6-5, 305, jr.) was placed on the second team offense as a tackle. LeChris Hood (6-3, 290, sr.) was also selected on the second team offense as a guard. Anfernee Jordan (6-1, 180, sr.) was selected on the second team defense as a cornerback.
Franklin County also had three players to be recognized on the MAC All-State team. Antonio Christmas (6-1, 175, sr.) received first team honors as a punter. Chris O’Quinn (5-10, 190, sr.) was selected on the second team defense as a outside linebacker. Keonte Bee (5-9, 150, soph.) was named to the second team defense as a cornerback.
In Class 2A, Loyd Star had two players to receive MAC honors. Parker Flowers (6-1, 190, jr.) was selected as an outside linebacker on the first team defense. James Beard was named as the kick return specialist on the second team.
