Funeral services for Ruby Lorelle Smith Thompson are Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel in Meridian with burial in Mt. Horeb Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tommy Potate, Hunter Potate, Kevin Herrington, Gabe Snow, Braxton Boswell and Carroll McLemore. Rev. Jack Kerns and Rev. Tom Belcher will officiate the services. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, from 12 until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ms. Thompson was born Oct. 11, 1925, in McCall Creek to Holmes and Luna Burris Smith.

She graduated from high school in the Auburn Community and attended Draughans Business College in Jackson.  She then worked for the telephone company for 35 years, retiring in 1981 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to Meridian to be near her daughter and her family. Those years have been such a happy time to be near those she loved and cared for so much.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her only brother, Joe Glenn Smith; sisters, Lennie Smith and Sarah Dixie Miller; first husband, Robert Rodney LeBlanc; second husband, Charles (Jake) Thompson; and great-great granddaughter, Kayla Michelle Potate.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Rowan McLeod (Jeanette); daughter, Peggye Lynn LeBlanc Neal; granddaughters, Gega Michelle Potate, Tami Lynn Herrington, Donna Patterson (Barry) and Melinda Faye McLeod; great-granddaughters, Megan Potate Snow (Gabe), Lacy Lynn Howington and Lysa Crandall; great-great-granddaughters, Adalynn, Elle and Eden Snow, Leilah Herrington and Harper Brooke Potate, due March 2016; great-grandsons, Kevin Dewayne Herrington (Kasey), Hunter Thomas Potate (Joi) and Aaron Crandall; and great-great-grandsons, Layken Herrington, Landen Herrington and Easton Alsup.
