Funeral services for Marilyn Jo Paulk are Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Summit with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery in Summit. Pallbearers will be Matthew Dominick, Patrick Dominick, John David Paulk, Alex Paulk, Reese Paulk and Blake Dominick. Rev. Larry LeBlanc will be officiating the services. Jones Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Jones Family Funeral Services and will continue Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church.

Mrs. Paulk, 81, of Summit, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at her residence. She was born July 24, 1934, in Amite County.

She attended Mars Hill School and continued her education at Southwest Junior College where she was a member of the basketball team.

Mrs. Jo, as she was referred to by so many of her friends, never met a stranger and will be remembered by her big smile and wonderful laugh.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Summit, and she loved her church family. Her faith was deep, and she relied on her faith and God as she travelled through her life here on Earth.

Mrs. Jo was an avid hunter and golfer in her younger years.  She formerly owned Jo’s Fine Fabrics store in Summit, was a well-known drapery seamstress for years and a homemaker.

Mrs. Jo greatly loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was referred to by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Grandmother, Mawmaw Jo and JoJo. She loved to share stories and pass on great words of wisdom to all of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, J. F. and Ava Earl (Gatlin) Jones of Smithdale; and husband, Thompson Alexander “Tommy” Paulk of Summit.

Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-laws, John and Sandy Paulk of Smithdale and Gus and Angie Paulk of Ruth; a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Pat Dominick of Daphne, Alabama; one sister, Shirley Hazlewood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; one brother, Bucky M. Jones of Smithdale; nine grandchildren, Jennifer Langham, Patrick Dominick, Matthew Dominick, John David Paulk, Jamie-Lyn Honea, Alex Paulk, Maggie Paulk, Reece Paulk and Guy Braden Paulk; 10 great-grandchildren, Blake Dominick, Kaitlynn Dominick, Sawyer Dominick, Julia Langham, Kelsey Dominick, Avery Langham, Landon Dominick, Maddison Langham, Sam Dominick and Charley Langham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
