BHS earns split in tourney

The Brookhaven Panthers captured a split decision in Saturday’s Ole Brook soccer tournament at the Hansel King Sportsplex.
BHS (7-7-1) defeated Raymond 2-1 in the early contest. Dalton Fortado and Damian Noble powered the Panthers with two goals.
In the second matchup, BHS finished in a 1-1 tie with the Piney Woods Tornadoes. Corey Patterson led the Panthers with a goal.
In Tuesday’s contest against McLaurin, Brookhaven swept the Tigers in two games.
In girls’ action, the Lady Panthers (8-4-1) crushed the Lady Tigers 6-0. Maddie Miller powered the Lady Panthers with three goals. Kat Wallace contributed two goals and two assists. Alyssa Canon scored a goal. Fallon Brook had two assists.
On defense, goalie Macy Ziskin led the Lady Panthers with 10 saves.
In the boys’ contest, the Panthers blanked McLaurin 2-0. Will Moak and Tyler Mixon scored a goal each for Ole Brook.
On defense, goalie Antonio Dillon led Brookhaven with eight saves.
