LC Cougars defeat Jackson Academy

CLINTON – The Lawrence County Cougars handed the Jackson Academy Patriots its first lost of the season with a 59-57 victory in Monday’s Martin Luther King Invitational tournament at Mississippi College.
Lawrence County junior center Keyshawn Feazell was recognized as the game’s MVP.
Lawrence County continues action today as the Cougars and Lady Cougars host the South Pike Eagles for a big Region 6-4A contest. The varsity girls tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.

Feazell pumped in 27 points and grabbed six rebounds, two steals and one assist to lead the Cougars. Gabe Lewis and Phil Moore scored 12 points apiece. Moore finished with four rebounds and had five assists, while Lewis had six steals and two rebounds.
Vernell Garner chipped in four points and grabbed three rebounds. Reggie Statham and A.J. McLaurin provided two points each. McLaurin also grabbed three rebounds.
